So I'm settling in nicely and I'd like to thank everyone who was kind enough to leave a word of welcome for me. I appreciate it.
Still shooting Jarhead and basically dozing on and off so I may not be able to catch most of you on the phone right away. But I will. That makes me sound vaguely threatening and creepy. Like an ambush caller. I think I'm going to call up some of you and ask if you like scary movies.
Had a nice chat with Amy earlier, mostly about our TV habits and junk food. And as we both agreed on, we both lead such exciting lives. Really. Scandal every minute.
To Do List
-call Kiki and Josh (messages about "putting the lotion in the basket")
-restock on Doritos and chocolate ice cream (lots)
-call up Jena
-hire private investigators to locate sister: Maggie
-take Atticus to the vet
-call Charlize (at a *godly* hour at the request of her husband) and convince her to put a rubber chicken head beside Adam Brody while he's sleeping. In case of failure, run for life.
-try to convince Jimmy to stop with Bubble Boy reminders
-write new entry devoted entirely to Heath Brokeback Mountain to pacify certain individuals who shall remain unnamed Heath
MAGGIE, where are yooooouuuuuu?
The Lakers' season is becoming more and more depressing every day. 32-34. Doom. Gloom. Lamar Odom is on a day-to-day basis. Watching the Sonics wipe the floor with the Lakers... not pretty.
Jarhead's going pretty well. It's been great working with Chris again, haven't really seen him since October Sky. During breaks, Peter and I act out our scenes but he says Swoff's lines while I get Troy's. We are a very strange pair.

When you think about it, I guess it's a good idea to take the time and keep something like a journal just to keep things in perspective. Who knows, some day if I look back on this, I'll be amused at how young I sounded or how differently I saw things.
And thinking about *that* is getting depressing. Morbid boy, I am not.
I've been keeping pretty busy lately. A lot of things have changed from how I thought they would be or should be. I guess you could say I've grown up in this business and at least my childhood wasn't the trainwreck that most others' were.
I'm getting ahead of myself, aren't I? Yeah, I do that a lot.
I feel just a little stupid but I guess introductions are in order.
So I'm Jake. The full name's actually Jacob Benjamin Gyllenhaal but only Maggie calls me that when she wants to annoy me. So I probably shouldn't have mentioned that little fact because no doubt some people will start doing that too. As I said, I've been around a while but not in a child-actor capacity, my dad's a director and my mom's a screenwriter, my sister's an actress and my dog does stunts for celebrity dogs. I'm just kidding on the last one. I did a few of my dad's movies when I was a kid (did should be read as: a small minor role, an ode to nepotism. But I was a cute kid and I'm still around aren't I?) and October Sky was my first starring role. Since then I've done Donnie Darko, and well, a lot of other films Bubble Boy, Lovely and Amazing, Highway, The Good Girl, Moonlight Mile, The Day After Tomorrow. My latest work's been on Proof and Brokeback Mountain.
If I think of something else to say, I'm sure there's an edit option around here somewhere. But for now? Finis. Fini. Finito. Owari. am i multilingual? not when i only know a few words!
